SBTET Attendance Rules & Threshold Slabs

Official attendance percentages required for diploma semester examination eligibility in Telangana polytechnics.

Regular Eligibility
75.0% and Above
No Penalty / Direct Hall Ticket

Students who maintain an aggregate attendance of 75% or higher across all theory and practical subjects automatically qualify to write Semester End Examinations (SEE).

Hall tickets are issued without any condonation fees or medical certificates required.

Condonation Window
65.0% to 74.9%
Medical / Valid Grounds Exemption

Students within this range may be granted condonation on genuine medical grounds (accompanied by a registered medical practitioner certificate) or approved institutional deputation.

Requires recommendation by the college Principal and payment of the prescribed SBTET condonation fee before the deadline.

Academic Detention
Below 65.0%
Strict Exam Ineligibility

Students with less than 65% aggregate attendance are strictly detained under SBTET board regulations. No condonation is permissible under any circumstances.

Detained students cannot write regular semester end exams and must re-register to repeat the instructional term during the next academic year.

How SBTET Calculates Attendance Percentage

Your overall attendance percentage is calculated strictly using the formula:

Attendance % = (Total Present Days ÷ Total Working Days) × 100

Elapsed vs. Annual Calculation: In 1st-year annual schemes (C26 / 1YR), total working days span 180 instructional days across the academic year. In 2nd and 3rd year semester schemes, each semester consists of approximately 90 working days.

Biometric Facial Recognition System (FRS)

Government and private polytechnic institutions across Telangana record student presence via biometric FRS machines twice daily (morning entry and evening departure).

These machine punches are synchronized with the central SBTET server. If an entry shows absent despite attending classes, students must contact their departmental attendance coordinator or principal's office immediately for biometric verification.
