TG POLYCET: Complete Guide to Eligibility, Application Process & Exam Pattern
Verified against official Telangana SBTET Curricula & Gazettes
1Who Can Apply: TG POLYCET Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have passed the SSC (10th class) examination or its equivalent from a recognized board are eligible to apply. There is no minimum percentage requirement — even candidates who have just passed SSC can appear.
Students currently appearing in their SSC final examinations can apply provisionally. However, they must produce proof of passing before the counselling document verification round.
There is no upper age limit for general candidates. SSC private candidates (those who appeared without regular schooling) are also eligible to apply for POLYCET.
2TG POLYCET Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme
The POLYCET examination consists of 120 objective-type (MCQ) questions carrying 120 marks total, with a duration of 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes).
Subject-wise distribution: Mathematics — 60 questions (60 marks), Physical Science (Physics + Chemistry) — 30 questions (30 marks), Biological Science / Social Studies — 30 questions (30 marks).
There is no negative marking. All questions carry equal weightage of 1 mark each. The exam is conducted in OMR (bubble sheet) format at designated examination centres across Telangana districts.
3TG POLYCET Syllabus: Key Topics
The entire POLYCET syllabus is drawn directly from the Telangana SSC (Class 10) curriculum, meaning you are tested on what you already studied in school.
Mathematics topics include: Real Numbers, Polynomials, Linear Equations, Quadratic Equations, Progressions (AP/GP), Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics, Probability, and Mensuration.
Physical Science covers: Chemical Equations, Acids & Bases, Metals & Non-Metals, Electricity, Magnetic Effects, Laws of Motion, Gravitation, Light, and Carbon Compounds. Biological Science / Social Studies includes basic concepts from your Class 10 books.
4How to Apply: Online Registration Process
POLYCET online applications are submitted through the official portal (polycetts.nic.in). You will need your SSC Hall Ticket Number, Aadhaar number, mobile number, and a recent passport-size photo and signature in digital format.
The application fee is approximately ₹200–₹250 for general category candidates and lower for SC/ST/BC categories (check current official notification for exact amounts). Fee payment is accepted via net banking, UPI, debit card, or e-Seva/MeeSeva centres.
After payment, download and save your application confirmation. Hall tickets are released online approximately 10 days before the exam date.
5After the Exam: Results, Rank Card & Next Steps
POLYCET results and rank cards are published on the official portal within 2–3 weeks after the exam. Download your rank card using your registration number and date of birth.
Your POLYCET rank determines your counselling priority for college and branch selection. Government polytechnic colleges are highly sought-after — top-ranked students get first preference.
After results, SBTET announces the web counselling schedule. You must register for counselling, appear for HLC document verification, and exercise web options to secure your preferred college-branch combination.

Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, and Electrical Engineering are among the highest-demand diploma branches for both direct employment and B.Tech lateral entry. Choose based on your aptitude and local job market.
Q3.How many attempts are allowed for POLYCET?
There is no restriction on the number of POLYCET attempts. Candidates can appear every year until they secure admission.
